Gisborne East Coast and Wairoa

Overview

The Trust services a large region including Tairawhiti/East Coast, Gisborne City, Wairoa and surrounding rural areas. Our northernmost school is Potaka, our southernmost is Kotemaori and we cover inland as far as Waikaremoana and Motu.

There are 60 schools in this region including a number of Kura Kaupapa Maori, area schools and small rural schools. Most of the schools use the service annually. In 2015 our Educator worked with 5555 children.

The Trust actively fundraise and has good support from local organisations including Rotary, Gisborne District Council, Eastland Community Trust, and a number of funding organisations and philanthropic trusts. We run a major Fight for Life event each year. We also receive support from local contractors who transport the classroom free of charge. Thanks to our supporters we are able to provide the service to schools at a low cost to help ensure that we reach every child that we possibly can.
