Auckland – Monday 15 April 2019.
20 week nationwide tour commencing 6 May 2019
Smashed is a highly acclaimed International production. Originally from the UK it’s now in more than 12 countries, including Australia and is coming to New Zealand. The Smashed Project is dedicated to promoting responsible attitudes toward alcohol amongst youth.
Smashed has a team of three actors that will tour for 20 weeks, approximately eight weeks in greater Auckland and then travelling through the main centres as far south as Dunedin. This is a fantastic way to see the country while practicing your craft and getting paid!
You’ll perform Smashed twice a day, five days a week Monday to Friday in New Zealand’s Secondary Schools. Sometimes you’ll be at one school for the day and other days you’ll do one show in the morning before moving to a neighbouring one for the afternoon. You’ll perform to Year 9 students and audience sizes will range from 80 to 140.
Each show is 30 minutes, followed by a 30 minute workshop with the audience, exploring the behaviour and decisions of the characters you play. The script is proven and well refined but facilitating the workshop will be an important part of your role.
Actors will be paid a regular weekly wage with the addition of per diems. Accommodation is covered. We’ll provide a touring vehicle while fuel and any other tour-related travel costs (e.g. ferries) are also covered.
Auditions will take place in Auckland on Monday 15 April 2019. You’ll need to be available full time from 6 May for rehearsals and training and your first show is planned for 15 May. The tour will conclude Friday 27 September. For more information on Smashed check out: www.smashed.org.nz
