In primary and intermediate schools, our specialist health teachers provide engaging and memorable lessons through the Healthy Harold Programme. We visit more than 1400 schools and kura each year in our unique mobile classrooms, where students learn about their body, friendships, their identity, food and nutrition, and helpful and harmful substances. We take a co-design approach, working with schools to ensure each lesson meets the unique needs of their community.
In secondary schools, we help rangatahi to navigate adolescence through our three Theatre-in-Education programmes. SMASHED informs and educates young people on the dangers of underage drinking, promoting responsible attitudes to alcohol. Behind the Scenes explores vaping and social media influence. SMART$ empowers young people to make positive financial choices.
We also provide teacher professional development programmes to support teachers and learning support staff to create a nurturing environment for our tamariki and rangatahi and further understand their learning needs. Our professional development programmes are developed alongside specialist health providers to ensure content follows best practice.
